You must follow these requirements before, during and after every examination.
Read the instructions carefully. Ask Mr. Anis before examination day if there is a requirement you do not understand.
This requirement continues after you have left the examination room.
For 24 hours, you must not discuss or share questions, topics, answers or hints with anyone outside the group of students at this school who sat that examination with you. This includes friends at other schools, tutors and family members.
Do not post it on social media, forums or public groups. Do not send it to anyone outside that examination cohort, including through a group chat. A private message still counts as sharing.
Wear your regular school uniform and bring the materials you need for the correct paper.
Check your examination date, start time, subject and level in the timetable. Report to the venue 15 minutes early so checks can be completed before the examination begins.
Switch off your phone and disable all alarms. Leave bags, watches and other personal belongings in the designated storage area identified by the invigilator. Do not keep prohibited items in your pockets.
Enter quietly when invited and sit at your assigned desk. Your identity must be verified. Remain silent and do not open the examination paper until instructed.
All items must be available for inspection. Permission for one paper does not apply to another.
Bring dark blue or black non-gel pens, a soft dark pencil, a ruler, an eraser and any geometry instruments required. Bring enough stationery: you must not borrow or share during the examination.
All contents must be clearly visible. Opaque or partly opaque cases are not permitted. Keep only authorised stationery inside the case.
Your bottle must be transparent, with all labels removed, and must contain water only. It must not carry notes or other unauthorised material.
Calculators and bilingual dictionaries may be taken to the desk only when permitted for that paper and approved beforehand. A lucky charm requires inspection and approval before it may stay on your desk.
You must not have them on your desk, in your pockets or within reach during the examination.
No phone or wristwatch is allowed at the desk, even if switched off. This includes ordinary watches. Do not bring an individual desk clock; use the examination-room clock.
Do not take headphones, earbuds, tablets, laptops or other unauthorised electronic devices to the desk. Personal earplugs are allowed only under an approved individual arrangement.
Leave bags, study notes, books and loose paper in the designated belongings area. Only the materials authorised for your particular examination may be used.
The school provides tissues; raise your hand to ask for them. Keep personal tissue packets with your belongings. Food and drinks other than water require a medical exception.
Your graphical display calculator must be approved and correctly configured for the examination.
Hand your GDC to Mr. Anis. He will inspect and approve it, then set it up in the required examination mode. Do not wait until you are entering the examination room to arrange this.
Bring the same approved GDC, charged and ready, to each examination in which calculators are allowed. Do not disable examination mode or change the restricted settings. Report any loss of the mode to Mr. Anis.
Before each examination, Mr. Anis or an invigilator will check that your GDC is still in the correct examination mode. Staff will reset or reconfigure it where required. Advance approval does not replace this check.
Do not bring a dictionary to your desk unless Mr. Anis has approved both your eligibility and that copy.
A printed bilingual translation dictionary may be permitted when the examination’s response language is not your strongest language. Taking English B does not, by itself, establish permission.
Give your dictionary to Mr. Anis for inspection and approval before examination day. The approved copy must remain free from notes, annotations and added material.
Do not use a bilingual translation dictionary in Language A or language acquisition examinations, including English B. Any specific Classical Languages allowance must be confirmed separately.
Electronic dictionaries are not permitted. Do not share a dictionary or consult it during reading time. Approval for a different paper is not permission for the paper you are sitting.
Your answers are scanned for marking. Write clearly and follow the instructions for each part of the paper.
Use a non-gel pen for written responses. Use a soft pencil that produces dark lines for graphs and diagrams. Coloured pencils are permitted only in Geography examinations.
Complete multiple-choice answer sheets in pencil, following the printed instructions. This does not mean that written-response sections in the same paper should also be answered in pencil.
Cross out mistakes neatly. Do not use correction fluid or correction pens. After reading time, you may highlight questions, but not your answers.
Use the examination paper or provided answer booklets for working and plans. Do not use separate scratch paper. If you need more space, raise your hand and continue in an answer booklet; identify the question and indicate the continuation in the answer box.
Most examinations include five minutes of reading time before the writing time begins.
Check the subject, level and other details as instructed. Only open the examination paper when the invigilator gives permission.
During reading time, do not write answers, make notes, highlight questions, use a calculator or consult a dictionary. Keep pens and pencils down.
You must wait until the invigilator announces the writing time. The five minutes of reading time are not part of the stated writing time.
Follow every instruction from the invigilator and remain silent until you have left the examination room.
Do not change seats, stand up or leave the room without permission. Raise your hand and wait for an invigilator to come to you.
No talking, signalling, passing items, helping another candidate or receiving help. Do not share stationery, calculators, dictionaries or other equipment.
Do not look at another candidate’s answers or make your work available for copying. Unauthorised notes and devices are prohibited, whether or not you intend to use them.
Raise your hand if a page is missing, you need an answer booklet or something is wrong. Invigilators cannot explain a question, interpret it for you or help you answer it.
Necessary bathroom visits, sudden illness and approved arrangements have specific procedures.
Raise your hand and wait for permission. A member of staff must supervise your temporary absence. Do not take materials out, access your phone or notes, or speak to anyone except the supervising staff member.
Tell an invigilator immediately if you feel unwell. Arrange necessary medication and individual access needs with Mr. Anis beforehand where possible. Do not leave the room on your own.
Raise your hand to request school-provided tissues. Personal earplugs, food and drinks other than water are not general permissions; any individual arrangement must be agreed in advance.
Finishing your work does not end the required supervision or give you permission to collect your phone.
Remain at your assigned desk until the required supervision ends, even if your paper is shorter than two hours. The two hours run from the examination start, not from when you finish.
For a longer sitting, you may ask to leave after two hours only if you have finished all required papers. No early departures during the final 30 minutes of the relevant examination.
Stay supervised between papers and do not collect your belongings. No early departure during the first hour of a paper. Follow the exact sequence and release instructions for your sitting.
Wait for explicit permission. Staff must confirm that the required supervision is complete before releasing you. You cannot return to a paper after handing it in and leaving early.
Do not make your own arrangements to miss, delay or reschedule an examination.
Contact Mr. Anis or the school promptly and report to the venue as soon as possible. Explain what has happened. Do not assume a late message gives you permission to arrive at a different time.
Tell Mr. Anis or the school as soon as you can so the appropriate procedure can be followed. Do not assume that illness automatically excuses an absence or that you can sit the paper on another day.
Raise your hand and tell the invigilator immediately. Do not wait until you have left the room to report a problem that is affecting your ability to complete the paper.
Follow the invigilator’s instructions and remain under supervision. Do not talk about the paper or access your phone. Staff will tell you what to do next.
Do not add a final word, finish a calculation or make any other change to your answers after time is called.
Stop all work on your answers. Follow any subsequent instructions about checking identification details and organising your script. These instructions do not permit further work on answers.
As directed, check your name, session number and question numbers. Attach the required coversheet, answer booklets and graph paper in the correct order. Ask if you are unsure.
Leave examination papers, answer materials, data booklets and unused paper for collection. Do not take any examination material out of the room. Complete the required calculator checks.
Stay seated while materials are collected and counted. Leave quietly only when permitted. The 24-hour restriction on sharing examination content continues after dismissal.
These restrictions apply to conversations, private messages, group chats and public posts.
For 24 hours after it ends, do not send questions, topics, answers, screenshots or hints to anyone outside your immediate examination cohort. Reconstructing a question from memory is still sharing examination content.
Never search for, request, buy, download or distribute unreleased examination questions or answers. A private chat or invitation-only group is not an exception. Do not help someone who has not yet sat the examination.
If you receive material claiming to contain examination questions, do not continue reading, use it or forward it. Tell Mr. Anis immediately and follow his instructions for reporting the concern.
